At the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center, it is our goal to provide people with developmental disabilities with an improved quality of life, generating a greater feeling of confidence, security, independence and overall enjoyment of life. This is accomplished, in part, through the application of science and technology, and employs the process of evaluation, design, research, development and utilization of effective assistive technology devices that in some way, improve the quality of life of individuals with disabilities.

Assistive devices may be thought of as tools that aid individuals in the essentials of daily living. This may apply to various modes of functionality in areas such as comfort, safety, mobility, accessibility, and recreation. These devices may be one of many currently available items on the open market or may be developed and customized for specific cases or applications. In many cases, proper selection of existing technology may provide an adequate solution for a given situation. Other cases may require a higher degree of specialization for a particular application or desired result.

At the Riddle Developmental Center, we strive to incorporate evolving technology into our environment and enhance the lives of the people that we serve. As each day passes, the path to greater independence is being achieved through the continuous development of technology across the globe. Our quest lies in the successful application of these beneficial elements.
