Hepatitis C is a liver disease that is caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV) in an infected person's blood.  Hepatitis C is serious for some people, but not for others.  Generally, a person with hepatitis C carries the virus for the rest of his or her life.  Hepatitis C can be treated but there is no cure.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Actress Pamela Anderson disclosed Wednesday she has hepatitis C and said she contracted the serious liver disease from sharing a tattoo needle with her ex-husband, rock musician Tommy Lee.
