JIRDC has an Exposure Control Plan to help provide a safe working environment.  Precautions and practices spelled out in this plan are used to reduce the chance of exposure.

The Exposure Control Plan is a part of the JIRDC Safety Procedure Manual.  This manual is located in all departments and homes.  It is also on the JIRDC web site.  The Safety and Health Director and the Employee Health Nurse are resources available to staff regarding this plan.

All employees are expected to:

  • know which of their tasks might cause occupational exposure
  • attend training sessions
  • practice their job within the policies and procedures
  • develop and practice good personal hygiene habits

The Exposure Control Plan contains a list of all jobs where employees have a high risk of exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
